DO NOT currently own or operate a business:
If you are thinking about starting a new business in the future and you have
not done much planning and want to learn a lot about what you need to do to
start a new business, SCORE recommends that you attend our QuickSTART Workshop
series and get a mentor assigned as part of the Workshop process, after workshop
2.
These five workshops are
offered frequently and provide you help from SCORE to organize and get ready
to start your new business. You will learn what to do, why you do it, when
to do it and how to do it.
Workshop 1 is an introductory overview about what it
takes to start a new business. If you choose to continue your education, after
you attend Workshop 2, you will be assigned a SCORE mentor who will mentor you for FREE as you go through
the remaining workshops and then maintain an ongoing FREE mentoring relationship
as you successfully start and grow your new business. By attending the workshop
series, you will benefit from more rapid learning by combining the workshops
with FREE mentoring.

and know what products will be offered, know some things about my competition
and have a good idea about what types of people or businesses will be my
customers, BUT I want additional advice and mentoring before I start my new
business.
You should sign up for a
mentor NOW. Once your mentoring relationship has started, your mentor will
recommend any of the SCORE education programs that will accelerate your
readiness to startup your business. Please go to the bottom of the page to sign
up for a mentor and follow the section: "PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING INSTRUCTIONS

which will look as shown in the example below. Click on “Register Here.”
This request form is managed for us by the National
SCORE organization in Washington.
When you complete the forms, you can return to the Manasota SCORE website by
exiting the request form window after submitting your information.
When you fill out the form, the more specific you
can be about the type of business you are in and the nature of the advice
you are seeking will help us assign the appropriate mentor to you.

ASSISTANCE REQUESTED ON THE FORM AS SHOWN BELOW >>>>>> IN RED in
the “Please describe your business and the specific assistance
requested” text box. That will help us when
we assign a mentor!
After you submit your request, a mentor will be
contacting you in a few business days to arrange your initial session. Your
first mentoring session can be at our office or at another place to be
jointly determined by you and your mentor.
